Mouse test

Click every button and scroll the wheel inside the test area — the ones that register light up. The test catches false double clicks, when a worn button fires twice from one press, and estimates the polling rate from cursor movement.

Inside the area the right and side buttons don’t open menus or go back in history, so you can test them safely. Nothing you do here is sent to a server.

Click and scroll inside the area below.

Everything runs in your browser: sound, video and keystrokes are never sent or stored.

How to read the result

  • Buttons and wheel — left, right, middle and the wheel both ways should light up. Side buttons too, if you have them.
  • False double click — two hits within 60 ms. No human clicks that fast; it is switch bounce.
  • Polling rate — the browser’s estimate from movement intervals, so move the mouse fast and smoothly. Office mice run at 125 Hz, gaming mice at 500–1000 Hz and up; browsers sometimes under-report.
  • Drift — the cursor shouldn’t move while the mouse lies still.

Frequently asked questions

My mouse double-clicks on its own. What can I do?
The micro switch is worn. A repair shop can replace it; gaming mice often have a debounce setting in the vendor app. If it’s under warranty, return it.
Why is the polling rate lower than advertised?
Browsers may merge movement events and power-saving modes lower the rate. Use a wired connection, move faster and watch the top value.
Can I test a touchpad?
Yes, touchpad clicks and scrolling count too. Polling rate is not shown for touchpads.
Why does my cursor jitter?
A dirty sensor, a glossy or glass surface, or a low battery in a wireless mouse. Clean the sensor and try a mouse pad.
