By Ron Amadeo US District Judge Lucy Koh has ruled that a class-action lawsuit against Google's Incognito tracking policies can go forward, Bloomberg reports. The lawsuit contends that Chrome's private browsing "Incognito" mode should also stop Google's server-side tracking and that Google's failure to cease such tracking violates federal wiretap laws. The lawsuit seeks at least $5 billion, or $5,000 per violation for "likely" millions of users. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/03/judge-rules-5-billion-google-chrome-incognito-mode-lawsuit-can-go-forward/

The agreement follows months of talks between CWA and the companies. CWA had filed objections with public service commissions in several states over the acquisition and its potentially adverse impact on quality service and jobs. With CenturyLink's agreement to secure jobs and investment, CWA dropped its opposition to the merger. https://cwa-union.org/issues/entry/c/centurylink_qwest

This might seem strange to those older than I and might seem pointlessly obvious to people younger than I, but I was exactly the right age at exactly the moment the world changed that I was changed right along with it. https://crosscut.com/opinion/2021/03/why-washington-state-needs-public-broadband
