Fox , Scott Thompson , Angela Y. Kung , Daniel P. Reing and Christen B'anca Glenn The next-generation of wireless technologies - known as 5G - is here. Not only is it expected to offer network speeds that are up to 100 times faster than 4G LTE and reduce latency to nearly zero, it will allow networks to handle 100 times the number of connected devices, revolutionizing business and consumer connectivity and enabling the "Internet of Things." Leading policymakers - federal regulators and legislators - are making it a top priority to ensure that the wireless industry has the tools it needs to maintain U.S. leadership in commercial 5G deployments. This blog provides monthly updates on FCC actions and Congressional efforts to win the race to 5G. https://www.mondaq.com/unitedstates/telecoms-mobile-cable-communications/1032920/what39s-new-in-5g--february-2021?email_access=on ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20210210062208.982764C8@telecom2018.csail.mit.edu> Date: Wed, 10 Feb 2021 06:22:08 +0000 (UTC) From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: WA: Cellphone service restored to Key Peninsula after Verizon outage By Chase Hutchinson Verizon customers on the Key Peninsula were experiencing outages that began at 7 p.m. Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon, saying they were struggling with poor reception with calls unable to go in or out. https://www.thenewstribune.com/news/local/community/gateway/article249129450.html ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20210210062808.E1BDF73C@telecom2018.csail.mit.edu> Date: Wed, 10 Feb 2021 06:28:08 +0000 (UTC) From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: ISPs step up fight against SpaceX, tell FCC that Starlink will be too slow SpaceX's FCC broadband funding faces more opposition from telco trade groups.
