Fortunately, they hustled to repaired it quickly, even though it was a Sunday and we were in the midst of a big wind and rainstorm. Thank you for the commitment to good customer service, CenturyLink. https://www.tillamookheadlightherald.com/fenceposts/cape-meares-fencepost-december-30/article_42267270-4a0a-11eb-8c1b-dfd1755f4cb6.html ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20210101203427.814A173C@telecom2018.csail.mit.edu> Date: Fri, 1 Jan 2021 20:34:27 +0000 (UTC) From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: NC can no longer wait for broadband solutions By Guest Columnist Paul Meyer Roughly a year ago now, I spoke to the members of Gov. Roy Cooper's broadband task force and noted how, from the viewpoint of anyone looking objectively at the issue of broadband access, the public- private partnership model advocated by NCLM is a "no-brainer." https://www.yourdailyjournal.com/opinion/98255/paul-meyer-nc-can-no-longer-wait-for-broadband-solutions ------------------------------ Message-ID: <1FE49A54-4DE3-4394-8CD4-0C67C2AE8452@roscom.com> Date: 1 Jan 2021 00:59:52 -0500 From: "Monty Solomon" <monty@roscom.com> Subject: FCC orders phone companies to help trace illegal robocallers It's now also putting a limit on non-telemarketing robocalls. By Mariella Moon The FCC has been adopting more and more measures to combat robocalls, and the latest set of rules it's implementing include limiting even non-telemarketing calls made to residential phones. Non-commercial, commercial and nonprofit organizations can now only make up to three calls per residential number within 30 days and are required to allow recipients to opt out. The FCC didn't have a limit for non-telemar- keting calls before this change. In addition, the commission has introduced new rules for voice service providers, which are now required to respond to traceback requests for illegal call sources from the commission and from law enforcement. https://www.engadget.com/fcc-illegal-robocalls-tracing-new-rules-122542768.html ***** Moderator's Note ***** The question, of course, is whether "residential phones" includes cell phones.
