In that year, however, Verizon lured Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox and Brighthouse (now, after various acquisitions, consolidated as Comcast, Charter and Cox) to its own side. It acquired many of their spectrum assets and agreed an MVNO and cross-marketing alliance. The latter was dumped the following year, perhaps as Verizon realized how dangerous a threat cable could be to its own 4G plans, but the MVNO agreements have persisted and were recently renewed and extended with Comcast and Charter (though Cox is reported to be in talks with AT&T) https://rethinkresearch.biz/articles/verizon-continues-arm-enemies-renewing-cable-mvno-deals/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20201119030008.06393736@telecom2018.csail.mit.edu> Date: Thu, 19 Nov 2020 03:00:07 +0000 (UTC) From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: CenturyLink Has a New Name and Old Problems By Teresa Rivas Sept. 15, 2020 A rose by any other name would have the same thorns. CenturyLink stock (ticker: CTL) is inching up early Tuesday on news the wireline firm is rebranding as Lumen. While it makes sense to break with the associations from legacy businesses of the past, the company won't be able to leave all its headwinds behind. https://www.barrons.com/articles/centurylink-has-a-new-name-and-old-problems-51600180684 ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20201117181343.3CCD8804@telecom2018.csail.mit.edu> Date: Tue, 17 Nov 2020 18:13:43 +0000 (UTC) From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Columbia-CenturyLink multimillion-dollar lawsuit progressing By Hunter M.
