Unlike bring-your-own-device (BYOD) -- a term generally used to describe self-owned mobile devices -- CYOIT encompasses a broader range of tools that workers use to do their jobs." The November 3, 2020 report entitled "6 Cybersecurity Lessons From 2020" included comments about CYOIT: https://www.mondaq.com/unitedstates/security/1003830/cybersecurity-threats-in-2020-now-include-choose-your-own-it-cyoit?email_access=on ------------------------------ Message-ID: <d74df0d7-a43c-2e30-563d-eea189018ba8@gmail.com> Date: Fri, 13 Nov 2020 13:15:32 -0500 From: Bill Horne <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: FCC Sets New Rates For IP CTS Compensation And Proposes New Minimum Service Standards by Josh Guyan and Chris Laughlin At its September 30 Open Meeting, the FCC took new steps to address costs and service quality related to its IP Captioned Telephone Services (IP CTS) program in aReport and Order, Order on Reconsideration, and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking <https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-20-132A1.pdf>. Webb The 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has increased employee teleworking and telecommuting. As a result, an increased amount of business is now conducted over the internet. This change brings significant risk to employers' doorsteps. In 2019, prior to the pandemic, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) averaged 1,300 complaints daily from individuals and businesses regarding internet enabled crimes and scams. The FBI reported that businesses and individuals lost more than $3.5 billion through cybercrimes. According to the FBI, most complaints involved phishing and other scams, as well as extortion carried out through email. Individuals and businesses suffered the greatest losses through compromised business email, as well as scams in which individuals mimicked the account of a person or vendor known to the victim that were used to gather personal or financial information, also known as "social engineering." https://www.mondaq.com/unitedstates/security/1003626/nine-tips-to-enhance-your-company39s-cybersecurity-when-employees-work-remotely?email_access=on ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sat, 14 Nov 2020
