Dispatchers at the Department of Emergency Services dispatch center were able to hear callers but callers could not hear dispatchers, spokesman Eric Jensen said. Dispatchers by protocol initiate a call back when they experience such problems or when a call is interrupted. Both parties had full audio when those calls were made. https://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/911-issues-remedied-in-a-couple-of-hours/article_9246e78b-8bed-5519-afe9-be03eb8aeebd.html ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20201107180202.E0056780@telecom2018.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 7 Nov 2020 18:02:02 +0000 (UTC) From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: NY: Woman sues Albany officers who disregarded 911 caller before she was raped By Brendan J. Lyons ALBANY - A 26-year-old woman has filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Albany and three officers who allegedly failed to come to her aid after her friend called 911 and warned police that she was being held in an apartment by a knife-wielding man. After the officers left the scene without checking on her, the assailant raped her. https://www.timesunion.com/news/article/Woman-sues-Albany-officers-who-disregarded-911-15707112.php ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20201107174833.26E78780@telecom2018.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 7 Nov 2020 17:48:33 +0000 (UTC) From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Unmanned Drones to Respond to 911 Calls in Georgia Town Not every 911 call will be answered with a drone, but Brookhaven, Ga., police say the project will give its officers more flexibility, availability and information, while limiting in-person contact amid the coronavirus pandemic. BY Zachary Hansen (TNS) - Brookhaven, Ga., will become the first city in the southeast to adopt a first responder program that uses unmanned drones to respond to 911 calls, emergencies and to conduct investigations. On Tuesday night, the city approved funding for the Brookhaven Police Department's UAS (unmanned aerial system) unit, which will consist of four drones. Police will be able to deploy them to witness crimes in progress, document crime scenes or provide a bird's eye view for officers on the ground. https://www.govtech.com/public-safety/Unmanned-Drones-to-Respond-to-911-Calls-in-Georgia-Town.html ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sun, 08 Nov 2020
