In some sense it is the dual of CDMA - CDMA transmits info in very short elements or bursts - OFDM (and OFDMA) transmits in very long bursts. In each case, the signal format allows a receiver to eliminate (or at least substantially reduce) the effects of echos or ghosts of radio signals (multipath). Both OFDM and CDMA have been around for about 60-70 years. IIRC, CDMA was first developed to provide protection against jamming and OFDM was developed to protect against multipath on HF radio circuits. Sewell, a software manager who lives in Santa Rosa's Skyhawk neighborhood, can't work without internet access. So when PG&E shut off the power to tens of thousands of people in Sonoma County this week, citing forecasts calling for dangerous fire weather, Sewell was sidelined from his job. https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/communication-outages-once-again-follow-power-shut-offs-in-sonoma-county/ -- Bill Horne ------------------------------ Message-ID: <cbd2d1c0-a32b-04d0-be76-42936cc84eb4@outlook.com> Date: 12 Sep 2020 22:34:10 -0400 From: "Bill Horne" <malQassimRilaMtion@gmail.com> Subject: Woman assaults NYC Verizon employee after refusing to wear mask, calls another employee a "fat ugly n----r" before storming out Woman assaults NYC Verizon employee after refusing to wear mask, calls another employee a "fat ugly n----r" before storming out An irate woman called one worker in a Manhattan Verizon store a "fat ugly n----r" and hurled a trash can at another - all because they asked her to wear a mask, shocking video shared on social media shows. https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/ny-verizon-woman-assaults-employee-racist-slur-video-20200912-phlwajwddzakpahsn4j753v7xi-story.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Tue, 15 Sep 2020
