By Elai Katz The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) agreed to settle charges that a telecommunications company violated a previous settlement agreement put in place to resolve a merger investigation and permit the merger to proceed. DOJ asserted that the company violated the prior agreement by soliciting customers of a business that it had agreed to divest. The divestiture and related non-solicitation provisions were designed to address government concerns that the proposed acquisition of another telecommunications company would have lessened competition in the market for fiber-optic-based telecommunications services in three cities. https://www.law.com/newyorklawjournal/2020/08/24/doj-enforces-non-solicitation-merger-remedy/?slreturn=20200724153838 -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ Message-ID: <0C1A9680-4FBB-4C86-8FB9-6CD8BB5811FF@roscom.com> Date: 23 Aug 2020 22:20:02 -0400 From: "Solomon, Monty Inc." <monty@roscom.com> Subject: FBI and CISA warn against surge in voice phishing campaigns Authorities saw an uptick in voice phishing (or "vishing") campaigns after the pandemic forced companies to implement work-from-home arrangements. That's what the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have revealed in their joint cybersecurity advisory, which offers companies and end users a list of tips on how they can protect themselves against the scheme. https://www.engadget.com/fbi-cisa-issue-voice-phishing-campaign-advisory-121936127.html ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20200824193323.GA2127@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 24 Aug 2020 19:33:23 +0000 From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: AT&T's 5G network is inconsistent, but shows promise If you're an AT&T customer who's craving 5G wireless data service that rivals the fastest home internet speeds, I've got some good news for you: It's here in Houston. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/texas-inc/article/AT-T-s-5G-network-is-inconsistent-but-shows-15508899.php -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Tue, 25 Aug 2020
