Harrington and Robert McDowell The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted its bidding plans for the next 5G auction, Auction 107. Auction 107 will offer 5,684 licenses in the 3.7 - 3.98 GHz band, part of what is known as the C-band. This C-band spectrum is being reclaimed from the satellite industry and successful bidders will be responsible for their pro rata share of the expenses incurred to relocate incumbent spectrum users. Interested bidders and investors should follow the FCC's progress as it moves forward with both auction bidding plans and plans to reclaim the spectrum. https://tinyurl.com/yymeqmha -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20200815165219.GA25973@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 15 Aug 2020 16:52:19 +0000 From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Griffith: Southwest Virginia's huge gaps in connectivity need to be narrowed U.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith said he considers broadband a necessity in the coronavirus-plagued communities he serves and says those needs are enormous. Griffith (R-Salem), whose Ninth Congressional District includes western Henry County, Martinsville and Patrick County, took an hour out of his day Friday morning to speak with the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce via Zoom to update the local business community on happenings in Washington as they affect the area. https://tinyurl.com/y3s3uax6 -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20200815171844.GA26077@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 15 Aug 2020 17:18:44 +0000 From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: How to Save on Your Monthly Cell Phone Bill Without Switching Providers 4 simple ways to lower your payment without changing your service If you're looking to save hundreds of dollars a year on your cell phone plan, consider shifting to an MVNO, or mobile virtual network operator. They provide low-cost service by purchasing minutes and data from AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon, thereby saving on the operation costs tied to owning a cellular network. https://www.consumerreports.org/cell-phones-services/save-on-cell-phone-bill-without-switching-providers/ -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20200815172716.GA26103@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 15 Aug 2020 17:27:16 +0000 From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: AT&T 5G test drive: Not the next-gen network we were promised By Eric Zeman Carriers in the US may have launched their commercial 5G networks in 2019, but the next-generation technology is still in its infancy. Coverage is spotty, supporting phones are still few and far between, and so far the high-speed gear in the hands of consumers has failed to meet the hype. Unfortunately, that includes AT&T 5G. https://www.androidauthority.com/att-5g-review-1145873/ -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sun, 16 Aug 2020
