By Jenna Amatulli Major tech giants like Google, Hulu and Verizon are refusing to run all or part of a new political ad that calls America a "police state" under the Trump administration. On Monday, Priorities USA Action and Color of Change PAC released a new 30-second digital ad titled "Police State" that features a montage of police officers beating, tear-gassing, tasing and running over people protesting racial inequality. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/police-state-trump-priorities-usa-ad_n_5f2858f5c5b6a34284be21e9 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20200809165045.GA26937@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 9 Aug 2020 16:50:45 +0000 From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Verizon's answer to T-Mobile's huge 5G expansion is... not very impressive by Adrian Diaconescu Both AT&T and T-Mobile had major announcements to make in regards to their 5G network expansion efforts recently, with the former carrier reaching the "nationwide" coverage milestone and the latter operator spreading the love to more than 1,500 new cities and towns to bring that already impressive total up to 7,500+. Unsurprisingly, Verizon is now trying to make a few waves of its own and divert some media attention away from its competition, although the nation's top wireless service provider is unlikely to spend much time in the limelight with its latest breakthroughs. https://www.phonearena.com/news/verizon-5g-rollout-san-jose-36-cities-t-mobile-expansion_id126466 -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ Message-ID: <d0e8f8e1-aedd-e655-3062-8a2a0cad7160@gmail.com> Date: Sun, 9 Aug 2020 13:04:49 -0400 From: Bill Horne <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Verizon Wireless Sues City Council for Denial of Two 5G Cell Nodes After a long and contentious battle on cell phone towers, the Everett City Council is getting disconnected. Last week, Verizon Wireless filed a two-count lawsuit in Federal Court against the City Council for denying two cell notes on Woodlawn and Vaughan Streets at its June 8 meeting - a 10-0 vote in denial of the 5G nodes that Verizon contends violates federal law. https://everettindependent.com/2020/08/05/verizon-wireless-sues-city-council-for-denial-of-two-5g-cell-nodes/ ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Mon, 10 Aug 2020
