But many of their wireline counterparts in the telecom world are moving at a slower pace. https://www.fiercetelecom.com/telecom/wireline-embraces-open-source-slower-than-wireless-special-report-telecom-blitz-week -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20200613142156.GA21996@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 13 Jun 2020 14:21:56 +0000 From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: FCC Approves $7.4 Million More in Rural Broadband Subsidies By John Eggerton The FCC has authorized $7.4 million in funding over 10 years for rural broadband buildouts in Oklahoma and Oregon. ... The largest incumbent price cap carriers - AT&T, Verizon, CenturyLink - declined about $2 billion in Connect America Fund phase II (CAF II) support for building out broadband to high-cost, generally rural, areas, so the FCC opened that pot of money up to competitors, like cable broadband providers, via auction. https://www.multichannel.com/news/fcc-approves-7-4-million-more-in-rural-broadband-subsidies -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20200613143122.GA22065@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 13 Jun 2020 14:31:22 +0000 From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Verizon, AT&T, Charter, Cox, Dish among CBRS auction bidders By Mike Dano The FCC Tuesday released a list of entities that have registered their interest in participating in the agency's auction of CBRS 3.5GHz midband spectrum, currently scheduled to start July 23. Noteworthy names among potential bidders include AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Charter Communications, Dish Network, Cox Communications, Comcast and CenturyLink. The auction appears to have drawn interest from entities not typically associated with spectrum bidders. For example, other names that appear among the FCC's filings include oil and gas companies like Chevron and Occidental Petroleum, tower company CellTex, fiber company Corning, agriculture equipment supplier John Deere, and the universities of Kentucky, Texas A&M and Virginia, as well as Duke University and Health System. https://www.lightreading.com/5g/verizon-atandt-charter-cox-dish-among-cbrs-auction-bidders/d/d-id/761573 -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sun, 14 Jun 2020
