Over 776 million calls were made and 5.87 billion texts sent on 18 May, showing a significant decline from peak pandemic volumes, the US operator said. The company said it expects to feel the impact of the pandemic for some time yet, but "the biggest changes in how, when and where people use the networks are behind us". Network monitoring will continue 24-7 to ensure optimum customer experience. https://www.telecompaper.com/news/verizon-reports-network-traffic-returning-to-normal-levels--1339645 -- Bill Horne Telecom Digest Moderator ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20200524172904.GA21334@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 24 May 2020 17:29:04 +0000 From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Verizon Has Fastest 5G, But Users See 5G Just 0.5% Of The Time Verizon Has Fastest 5G, But Users See 5G Just 0.5% Of Time Analysis of ten 5G operators across US, S. Maritime Herald, from Bulgaria? In broken English? The situation in Venezuela is bad; a kleptocracy abusing the term "socialist" is giving real socialists a bad name. The article doesn't have much to do with telecom, except mentioning a couple of companies, and AT&T's nominal stopping DirecTV service there under Trump's pressure. The article's inaccuracy was tipped off, however, by this sentence: The government of Narnia, the Minister of Communication Jorge Rodríquez defined it correctly, during an update of the facts related to the attempt of a mercenary incursion on the coasts of Venezuela. Did Aslan the lion get involved too? --- Fred R. Goldstein k1io fred "at" ionary.com +1 617 795 2701 ***** Moderator's Note ***** In my own defence: * I though "The government of Narnia" was a satirical reference to the ways some members of the Venezuelan government had behaved. * The "Broken English" could have been caused by someone running a non-English version of the story through a software translater - or simply because one of the reporters uses English as a second language. * We had a global economy before COVID-19, and we're even more interconnected now. I didn't think twice about some of the staff having offices in Bulgaria, any more than the one who has his office in L.A.
