(Valley News Live)- Upset, confused and worried about the future. That's how some residents in a north Fargo apartment building feel after not having access to a phone in almost 2 weeks. And what's more, they need to have a phone line for life saving devices, which they use for emergency medical help. https://www.valleynewslive.com/content/news/Some-Fargo-residents-concerned-after-phone-lines-not-working-no-access-to-life-alert-507650051.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190401150258.GA10757@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 1 Apr 2019 15:02:58 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Missouri: 911 OUTAGE FOR CLINTON, DEKALB, CALDWELL, AND ANDREW COUNTIES The Cameron Police Department taking to social media Sunday afternoon announcing that they were not receving 911 calls following a cut in a phone line. At least three people living in the Florida River Estates neighborhood near the intersection of Florida Road and County Road 234 have not been able to use their landline telephones for hours at a time, even days. Internet service has been spotty too, they said, but it's not as much of a problem as the phone interruptions. https://the-journal.com/articles/133115-landline-internet-problems-northwest-of-durango -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190401152812.GA10888@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 1 Apr 2019 15:28:12 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Verizon to Discontinue Copper in Heavily Populated Areas of the Northeast Written by Edward Gately Verizon has asked the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for permission to retire copper in numerous areas of New York, New England and Pennsylvania, as it continues moving customers to fiber-based technology. The carrier said it plans to retire copper facilities and replace them with fiber facilities to provide services over its fiber-to-the-premises network infrastructure. It plans to do so on or after June 28. https://www.channelpartnersonline.com/2019/04/01/verizon-to-discontinue-copper-in-heavily-populated-areas-of-the-northeast/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Tue, 02 Apr 2019
