Teleport Communications America, or TCG, told the court Wednesday that aside from the $3.2 million in unpaid fees, it needs an injunction ordering the companies to start ponying up, since they're still enrolled in TCG's services. https://www.law360.com/telecom/articles/1208168/at-t-affiliate-says-telecoms-owe-3m-in-carrier-fees -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20191011015129.GA2090@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Fri, 11 Oct 2019 01:51:29 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: AT&T Has Been Charging Portland Customers for a Tax It Won't Pay Cellphone providers are exempt from the tax. The charges are unwarranted. By Nigel Jaquiss & Rachel Monahan In August, an AT&T cellphone customer alerted WW that the carrier was passing along the Portland Clean Energy Tax to users ("Charges May Apply," WW, Aug. 28, 2019). Turns out such charges are unwarranted. https://www.wweek.com/news/city/2019/10/09/att-has-been-charging-portland-customers-for-a-tax-it-wont-pay/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20191011014825.GA2063@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Fri, 11 Oct 2019 01:48:25 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: AT&T to sell Puerto Rico business AT&T has agreed to sell its Puerto Rican and U.S. Virgin Islands businesses to Liberty Latin America Ltd. for $1.95 billion in cash, allowing the telecommunications giant to shave its debt load and move closer to repurchasing shares. AT&T's operation in Puerto Rico provides cellular, landline and internet connections. It had 1.1 million wireless subscribers. As part of the deal, about 1,300 AT&T employees will be transferred to Liberty Latin America. The two companies said they expect the deal to close within six to nine months. The Wall Street Journal earlier Wednesday reported the companies had agreed to a deal. https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/att-to-sell-puerto-rico-business-as-it-looks-to-pay-down-debt -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sat, 12 Oct 2019
