To Dump Appeal In Junk-Text Suit AT&T has asked the Seventh Circuit to reject an appeal of its lower court win in a lawsuit over mass texts sent to customers in Spanish, saying the plain language of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act contradicts consumers' arguments that the texts violated the law. https://www.law360.com/telecom/articles/1189645/at-t-urges-7th-circ-to-dump-appeal-in-junk-text-suit -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190817125241.GA12938@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 17 Aug 2019 12:52:41 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: AT&T's Cancellation & Billing Policies Could Use A Serious Update By Daniel Golightly T&T needs to update its cancellation and billing policies to account for customers who have gone through natural disasters and similar circumstances, based on recent reports following its response to some victims after last November's major California wildfire. Dubbed the Camp Fire, the disaster killed dozens and destroyed tens of thousands of structures. That didn't stop AT&T from billing victims even after their homes were lost. https://www.androidheadlines.com/2019/08/att-cancellation-billing-policies-hurt-customers.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190817125655.GA12975@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 17 Aug 2019 12:56:55 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: AT&T, T-Mobile Set aside differences in Staff up to Combat with robocalls THE TWO RIVALS ARE PUTTING ASIDE THEIR DIFFERENCES TO FIGHT THE ROBOCALL EPIDEMIC By Devid Maroon For Attracting A common enemy can do wonders People and groups with each other, along with also the robocall plague have now done just that. About Wednesday AT&T and T-Mobile declared that they have begun rolling out a call authentication platform to help protect their customers from the annoying spam requirements. Following The FCC-recommended STIR/SHAKEN protocol, the system operates with a caller's system to send out a digital signature to signify its amount has not been spoofed or falsified which the recipient's network then verifies. An icon will then be shown on the recipient's screen to indicate that the call they are getting has been confirmed to be from a genuine person, not a robocall service. https://theamusetech.com/2019/08/17/att-t-mobile-set-aside-differences-in-staff-up-to-combat-with-robocalls/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sun, 18 Aug 2019
