It was not possible to provide fully automatic telephone service to them. In 1960, the Automatic Electric Co. developed a system to reach remote stations without an intermediate operator. It's described in the following article from Railway Signaling Communications, 1960. https://books.google.com/books?id=MDw7AAAAMAAJ&dq=railway%20signal%20p-a-x&pg=RA5-PA26#v=onepage&q&f=false You may also scroll through the entire volume. Now, the FTC says you won't get anywhere near that amount Equifax promised up to $125 for the hack. Now, the FTC says you'll get "nowhere near" that amount. As one victim of the hack wrote: "This is unacceptable. The court and Equifax knew there were 147 million claimants. Why offer $125 per claim and set aside only $31 million? Did someone forget to do the math?" https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2019/07/31/equifax-promised-up-hack-now-ftc-says-youll-get-nowhere-near-that-amount/ ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Fri, 02 Aug 2019 Telecom Digest FAQ is at http://telecom-digest.org/faq.html
