The Howard County Sheriff Office has had the 911 lines restored as well. From what we can tell, most if not all services in the community have been restored. Yesterday, for the greater part of the day, most of Big Spring was affected by a phone outage linked to AT&T service. Several cell phone carriers were having issues with cell service placing many without phone service. Numerous local businesses were also affected by the outage. At this time no cause for the outage has been released, but it seems all services have been restored. https://www.bigspringherald.com/news/phone-service-restored/article_6ff5bb0a-b39a-11e9-9683-c3fc9a1e8845.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190801011913.GA22513@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Thu, 1 Aug 2019 01:19:13 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Real-Life Lessons Learned from Hurricane Michael, Others Recalling the experiences of businesses that have gone through recovery could help you prepare for any of your own disasters. By Tim Proctor Being a Florida boy, I've been through many hurricanes over the years -- the last 54 years, to be exact. The worst of these has included Hurricane Andrew (Category 5, Miami, August 1992) and Hurricane Ivan (Category 3, Pensacola, September 2004). In fact, Hurricane Ivan was part of a four-hurricane flurry in our area during a 15-month period in 2004-2005. In my 31 years in telecom, I've had clients dealing with storms, too. It seems that almost every year, I have clients in Florida or along the Gulf Coast that must deal with storms. Today, I wanted to take you through my clients' experiences with hurricanes so that you can learn from them and possibly help your organization become better prepared for any disasters that cross your path. https://www.nojitter.com/best-practices/real-life-lessons-learned-hurricane-michael-others -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190801011230.GA22439@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Thu, 1 Aug 2019 01:12:30 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Verizon Wireless services restored after nationwide outages; including the Quad Cities By Chris Carter DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - UPDATE 11:52 a.m.: Verizon representatives tell TV6 that service has been restored following their statement that was released to TV6 at 10 a.m. https://www.kwqc.com/content/news/Verizon-Wireless-services-down-across-the-country-including-the-Quad-Cities-513383731.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Thu, 01 Aug 2019
