However, it took the opportunity to comprehensively rethink its privacy standards, as the new privacy page reveals on the Apple website. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidphelan/2018/05/26/apple-demonstrates-privacy-by-design-to-benefit-iphone-ipad-and-mac-users-worldwide/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <CB7F2592-7900-4DFD-B473-4B0671B595B6@roscom.com> Date: Sun, 27 May 2018 09:37:02 -0400 From: Monty Solomon <monty@roscom.com> Subject: FBI tells router users to reboot now to kill malware infecting 500k devices FBI tells router users to reboot now to kill malware infecting 500k devices Feds take aim at potent VPNFilter malware allegedly unleashed by Russia. By Valentina Palladino Newly released court documents reveal just how much Apple apparently knew about the iPhone 6's and 6 Plus' propensity to bend. A report by Motherboard shows parts of the documents that were made public by US District Court Judge Lucy Koh (most of the documents remain sealed), and they say Apple's internal testing found that iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models were indeed bendier than previous iPhones. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2018/05/court-docs-show-apple-knew-about-the-bendiness-of-the-iphone-6-6-plus/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <pedqab$guo$1@shakotay.alphanet.ch> Date: Sun, 27 May 2018 10:30:03 +0200 (CEST) From: Marc Schaefer <schaefer@alphanet.ch> Subject: Re: Hackers infect 500,000 consumer routers all over the world with malware Monty Solomon <monty@roscom.com> wrote: > If you have a router that may be infected: Interesting: however the infection can occur either a) if there is a known password exploit: your step 4 changes it b) but also: if there is a generic security exploit. with b) the router will be reinfected again. Upgrading the firmware should probably be attempted if there is one available. ***** Moderator's Note ***** Did I forget to mention that you need to upgrade the firmware? My router was up-to-date, but it's always important to check. Bill Horne Moderator ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Mon, 28 May 2018
