Bill Grubbs, network solutions architect with CenturyLink, said that 18 months of experience selling SD-WAN has made it clear that success in this arena needs to be based on establishing long-term customer relationships, not offering a quick fix to the need for Internet offload or cheaper connections than MPLS can provide. SD-WAN is part of a customer network transformation of that has to be carefully tailored if it is going to succeed in the long-run. Many factors - the underlying transport, available resources, application type and even the nature of the typical user - will determine how the service needs to be set up and operated, he said. http://www.lightreading.com/carrier-sdn/sd-wan/centurylink-sd-wan-no-quick-fix/d/d-id/733508 Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20170612234347.GA12699@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2017 19:43:47 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Customer unsatisfied with Centurylink's internet service By Susan Moore I am wondering whether anyone else in this area is feeling cheated by Centurylink. After going back and forth with them about poor internet service since I moved here seven years ago I turned the problem over to U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas. She did her best to be helpful and referred the matter to the FCC. http://www.thereflector.com/opinion/article_a1555eec-4b02-11e7-94fb-c3ee0a4a2c98.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20170612233706.GA12676@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2017 19:37:06 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: CenturyLink says G.fast is part of a broader software delivery platform vision by Sean Buckley SAN FRANCISCO - CenturyLink's G.fast deployment targeting multiple dwelling units (MDUs) is all about accelerating the service provider's ability to quickly get ahead of customer broadband needs. In September 2016, CenturyLink installed G.fast in Platteville, Wisconsin, to deliver up to 500 Mbps broadband in 44 MDUs. It is also conducting similar deployments in Minnesota. However, the telco sees the opportunity to use the technology to enhance the reach of its Ethernet service. http://www.fiercetelecom.com/telecom/centurylink-says-g-fast-part-a-broader-software-delivery-platform-vision -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Tue, 13 Jun 2017
