CenturyLink announces that it will make some layoffs before the end of the year. Annmarie Sartor, spokesperson for the company, says employees received a company-wide memo Wednesday from CenturyLink's CEO Glenn Post about the layoffs. City officials have told Verizon Communications that it considers the telecommunications provider in default of its agreement to provide broadband and pay-TV services throughout the city. The regulatory agency is receiving complaints about Verizon following a series of Plain Dealer stories in the last 10 days that raised questions about unexplainable explosions in cellular data use among thousands of Verizon customers nationwide.
