Not so? I believe the higher voltage transmission lines are normally connected "delta" meaning there is no imbalance current. The distribution lines such as the ones that run down your street usually are connected "wye" and have a neutral for any imbalance current. ------------------------------ Message-ID: <nm30ps$2osd$1@miucha.iecc.com> Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2016 15:02:20 +0000 (UTC) From: John Levine <johnl@iecc.com> Subject: Re: What happens when fiber breaks? >Or some wacko figures out where the trans-Atlantic cables come to shore >and blows it up.... U.S. District Judge William Pauley in Manhattan on Tuesday ruled that defendant Raymond Lambis' rights were violated when the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration used such a device without a warrant to find his Bronx apartment. ==== rest: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-crime-stingray-idUSKCN0ZS2VI Nothing yet at the aclu.org or nyclu.org websites: [there] might be by the time this appears in [The Telecom Digest]. _____________________________________________________ Knowledge may be power, but communications is the key dannyb@panix.com [to foil spammers, my address has been double rot-13 encoded] ------------------------------ Message-ID: <nm6tm6$5a$1@reader1.panix.com> Date: Thu, 14 Jul 2016 02:33:42 +0000 (UTC) From: David Lesher <wb8foz@panix.com> Subject: Re: What happens when fiber breaks? Not so? I believe they are Delta. My question is: when (not if) that OPGW takes a lightning hit, and carries oh 100,000 Amps to ground....how do they ensure the glass is not damaged by the heat? -- A host is a host from coast to coast.................wb8foz@nrk.com & no one will talk to a host that's close..........................
