Subject: [telecom] Some California cell users can't dial 911

DAVENPORT - Suddenly, calling 911 during an emergency could be
problematic for cell phone users on the North Coast.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel is reporting residents of the small
communities of Davenport, Newtown, Swanton and Bonny Doon have been
without Verizon cell service since December 22.

T-Mobile CEO takes aim at Verizon in 2016 predictions: "These guys don't
get it."

BY TAYLOR SOPER

In what's becoming an annual tradition, T-Mobile CEO John Legere today
made some bold predictions for the new year. However, there's a new
twist this year when it comes to his take on T-Mobile's competition.

Legere, who frequently lambasts fellow U.S. wireless carriers AT&T,
Verizon, and Sprint in public, this time put a special emphasis on the
top dog, Verizon, the nation's leading carrier in terms of subscribers
- suggesting that he's setting his sights higher after T-Mobile
finally surpassed Sprint in 2015 to become the nation's No. 3 wireless
carrier.

Subject: [telecom] Measuring Fixed Broadband Report - 2015

Posted on the FCC website on December 30, 2015.

The 2015 Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report ("2015 Report")
contains the most recent data collected from fixed Internet Service Providers
(ISPs) as part of the Federal Communication Commission's (FCC) Measuring
Broadband America program. This program is an ongoing, rigorous, nationwide
study of consumer broadband performance in the United States. We measure the
network performance delivered on selected service tiers to a representative
sample set of the population. The thousands of volunteer sample panelists are
drawn from subscribers of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) serving over 80%
of the residential marketplace.
