Subject: CenturyLink realigns execs, continues pokey roll out of 1 gig Internet Message-ID: <m9p4i6$9ke$1@dont-email.me> By Tamara Chuang The Denver Post CenturyLink has reorganized its local leadership and replaced longtime Denver general manager [and high-speed fiber champion - mod] Scott Russell, the company confirmed Tuesday. Penny Larson, its operations vice president for Colorado, now adds Denver to her responsibilities. ... On Tuesday, CenturyLink said its gigabit effort is available only to Denver residents and declined to say which neighborhoods can order it. The company said it plans an update this month. A search on Century Link's website shows the speedier service available in Washington Park, Park Hill and Glendale. One person even put together a CenturyLink Gigabit Coverage map to track availability. http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_27313810/centurylink-realigns-execs-continues-pokey-roll-out-1 -or- http://goo.gl/eVdfjv -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly) Sitting on a park bench Eying little girls with sad intent Snot running down his nose Greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes - Ian Anderson

If the process had the device dipped in a bath of circuit board cleaner I'd be more confident of it being a longer-term fix, but with the short lifespan of these devices it may not be an issue. I once had a situation where a customer had a server sitting on the floor of a meeting room and it became unreliable after a couple of years, it turned out that the motherboard had a slimy film on it caused by six-monthly carpet steam cleaning which was sucked into the always running server by its fans, a good clean of the motherboard by the appropriate product fixed it but there would still have been long-term corrosion problems. -- Regards, David. Subject: Security flaw in Verizon mobile app has been patched Message-ID: <m9p3ds$4si$1@dont-email.me> The vulnerability, which Verizon has already fixed, would have let anyone to tap into a Verizon email account. by Charlie Osborne A security researcher has discovered a vulnerability tied to a Verizon application that would have allowed any user access to any Verizon email account -- and a fix has been rapidly pushed out. As reported by ThreatPost on Monday, Verizon pushed a fix out for the flaw last week after security researcher Randy Westergren Jr. disclosed the vulnerability in the application program interface, or API, used by Verizon's My Fios mobile app. The flaw was severe enough that the telecommunications giant patched the problem within 48 hours. Fios is Verizon's bundled phone, Internet, and television service. http://www.cnet.com/news/verizon-races-out-fix-for-email-security-flaw/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly) Won't you look down upon me Jesus, you've got to help me make a stand You've just got to see me through another day - James Taylor

The new service is expected run on Sprint and T-Mobile's networks, two people familiar with the product say.
