Subject: Markey: Fox 25, Verizon need to settle fee beef Message-ID: <m5fsap$8e1$1@dont-email.me> by Marie Szaniszlo U.S. Sen. Edward J. Markey yesterday called on Verizon and the new owner of Fox 25 to resolve the fee dispute that led to Thursday's blackout of the TV station for FiOS subscribers, which caused about 400,000 Massachusetts households to miss Thanksgiving football. "For many Massachusetts consumers, Black Friday was preceded by blackout Thursday and could be followed by further programming blackouts until Cox Media Group and Verizon come to agreement," the Bay State Democrat and member of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee said in a statement. "That's not right; the consumer shouldn't be caught in the middle. I urge both sides to continue working to resolve this dispute so consumers can access all of the programming they have paid for and expect from their video provider." http://www.bostonherald.com/business/media_marketing/2014/11/markey_fox_25_verizon_need_to_settle_fee_beef -or- http://goo.gl/sCFfIk -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly)

An informal investigation found that telecommunications company's quality of service violated PSC rules that require timely repairs. The PSC has now sought to continue the investigation into CenturyLink's service problems and outages, especially for rural customers who have no other phone service options. http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/news/state/psc-investigating-centurylink-phone-problems/article_831fdbee-6c27-11e4-9dd8-636491179654.html -or- http://goo.gl/YI9Jow -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly)

By Spencer Kent | South Jersey Times Verizon is fighting back against Hopewell Township's recent allegation that the company has continually neglected the township's copper wire telephone service while not providing sufficient broadband options like fiber-optic broadband service (FiOS). Earlier this month, Hopewell Township officials sent a letter to the state Board of Public Utilities with a summary report of 156 "serious" and "chronic" telephone service complaints that the township compiled from its residents over the last three months. Complaints included: "line noise, static, crackling, buzzing, and intermittent service outages often associated with bad weather," according to previous reports. http://www.nj.com/cumberland/index.ssf/2014/11/ verizon_snaps_back_at_cumberland_county_townships_allegations_of_substandard_telephone_service.html -or- http://goo.gl/oucqP0 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly)
