Subject: Robocaller Scam
I have heard about the scam where they call you with a robocaller and ask
if you can hear them. You say 'Yes', they record it, and they play it back as
'proof' that you agreed to a sale that you never agreed to and charges show up
on your credit card.
I got a call today saying, 'I am a health care worker. Can you hear me?'.
I knew better than to say 'Yes'. So I said, 'What do you want?' instead.
It immediately hung up. Scam confirmed.
I dialed the number back to see if it was the actual number the call
originated from or if it was a spoofed number.
I got what sounded like a real person when it answered. I asked why they
were calling me.
It danced around trying to get me to say 'yes'. But I didn't take the
bait.
It then told me I could be placed on the Do Not Call list by pressing '1'.
When I did, I heard the first voice continue to talk and a second one
[both at the same time] advising me I had been put on their Do Not Call list.
So I hung up.
Since it was an actual live number, I logged into my Callcentric account
and added that number to my blacklist. So they will get the dreaded SIT tones
and then a recording telling them not to call again. I also reported them so
that their number will be flagged as being from telemarketers so that other
users of this service will get protection as well.
The number was (602) 560-2279. Add that to your blacklist if you want to
stop them.. Bill, you can delete this paragraph if you don't want the number
to be published. Either way is fine with me.
Let the telephone subscriber beware!
Fred

Yesterday, the world watched as armed insurrectionists, with the
encouragement of the President of the United States, launched an
