Many thanks for posting the links. My dad was with WECO and heavily
involved with the DEW line and BMEWS. It was good training for him
because he eventually became the WECO Project Manager for building the
Mercury Communications Network.

Facebook sent a doctor on a secret mission to ask hospitals to share patient
data
* Facebook was in talks with top hospitals and other medical groups as
recently as last month about a proposal to share data about the
social networks of their most vulnerable patients.
* The idea was to build profiles of people that included their medical
conditions, information that health systems have, as well as social
and economic factors gleaned from Facebook.
* Facebook said the project is on hiatus so it can focus on "other
important work, including doing a better job of protecting people's
data."

TCPA Suit Prescription Reminder Calls Dismissed Under "Emergency
Purposes" Exception
Last week, the Northern District of Ohio dismissed a Telephone
Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) case filed against CVS Health Corp.,
Lindenbaum v. CVS Health Corporation. The plaintiff sued CVS for
placing at least six prerecorded prescription reminder calls to her
cell phone, for which she allegedly had not provided prior express
consent. She asserted that the calls were likely meant for the
previous subscriber of the cell phone number, which had recently been
reassigned to her.

"Ded we create this Monster?" How Twitter Turned Toxic
For years, the company's zeal for free speech blinded it to safety
concerns. Now it's scrambling to make up for lost time.
BY AUSTIN CARR AND HARRY MCCRACKEN
Yair Rosenberg wanted to troll the trolls.
Rosenberg, a senior writer for Jewish-focused news-and-culture website
Tablet Magazine, had become a leading target of anti-Semitic Twitter
users during his reporting on the 2016 U.S. presidential
campaign. Despite being pelted with slurs, he wasn't overly fixated on
the Nazis who had embraced the service. "For the most part I found
them rather laughable and easily ignored," he says.
