Subject: CenturyLink telephone and internet services restored
By Lisa Dayley
REXBURG, ID - CenturyLink customers' internet and telephone service
was restored about 48 hours after the company's fiber was cut on
Thursday.
In all, 4,200 internet lines were disrupted in Rexburg. Of that number
126 people in Ririe were without "dial tone service."
"They spliced new fiber in where it was cut. When it all came back up,
it all came back up (at the same time). It took it time to process,"
said CenturyLink's Market Development Manager Megan Griffin.

Subject: OPALCO raises concerns over CenturyLink cable break
A CenturyLink underwater fiber cable could break, anytime, because the cable
is fraying.
By Hayley Day
That's what Gerry Lawlor, of Rock Island, and Joel Mietzner, of
OPALCO, explained during the public comment section of the Jan. 10 San
Juan County Council meeting.
It could also break when OPALCO works on the power cable from Lopez to
San Juan Island in June. CenturyLink has tied their cable to OPALCO's
with rope and wire to keep it up, said Mietzner. When OPALCO employees
fix their cable, it could compromise the one CenturyLink attached to
it.

Perhaps you haven't been to Trenton lately. The city is in horrible
shape, and this building has been abandoned for seven years. If a
developer were willing to pay for the redevelopment, I'd give them the
building for free.

Verizon to redirect calls made from dangerous Galaxy Note 7 phones
There are reportedly still thousands of Verizon Wireless customers
using the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which was discontinued shortly after
its unveiling last year when at least 140 of the devices overheated or
caught fire. Verizon is now stepping its efforts up a notch by
redirecting non-emergency phone calls made by the potentially
explosive Note 7 to Verizon customer service.
"In spite of our best efforts, there are still customers using the
recalled phones who have not returned or exchanged their Note 7 to the
point of purchase," a Verizon spokesperson told Fortune yesterday.
"The recalled Note 7s pose a safety risk to our customers and those
around them."
