Verizon illegally denied Charter access to utility poles, complaint says
Charter fined for slow Internet rollout but says Verizon delayed construction.
By Jon Brodkin
Charter Communications has filed a complaint against Verizon, saying
the telco violated New York state's public service law and regulations
by denying access to utility poles.
Charter is required to extend its network in New York state to 145,000
homes and businesses by May 2020 under a condition imposed on its
purchase of Time Warner Cable, and it was supposed to complete the
first 36,250 locations by May of this year. Charter last week was
fined by New York regulators for failing to complete the first wave of
construction on time, but it largely blamed its failure on Verizon in
a complaint filed on Saturday with the New York Public Service
Commission.

Subject: Verizon says T-Mobile's service doesn't work on Thursdays
Commentary: After a T-Mobile outage, a Verizon executive tweets that his
company's service works every day. Does it?
By Chris Matyszczyk
There's little more enjoyable than phone carriers carping in each
other's directions.
The latest was a warning on Wednesday to T-Mobile customers. The
message: Your service might not work on Thursdays.
It came, astonishingly, from Verizon's Vice President of corporate
Communications, Jeffrey Nelson. On Twitter he reacted to a reported
outage suffered by T-Mobile customers in some areas last Thursday.
"MAJOR OUTAGE? Ditch T-Mobile if you want to make a call & get data on,
say, Thursdays. @Verizon. We work every day," he tweeted.

Subject: Verizon's Roaming Plan Slammed By Customers Over $1,000
Bills
Like most carriers, Verizon has moved away from pricey per-MB roaming
plans and towards systems that charge a set rate per day. The
$10-per-day TravelPass program oh-so-generously lets you use your
regular data plan in over 100 countries worldwide.
(Travelpass URL: <https://www.verizonwireless.com/plans/travelpass-countries/

It's supposed to mean low bills and hassle-free roaming, but some
customers who've come home to four-figure bills claim it's anything
but.

Subject: Verizon Wireless Ripping Off Customers
Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) says telco giant Verizon Wireless
is scamming U.S. travelers to Israel with its TravelPass service. The
plan, which promises big savings to customers who travel abroad with a
flat rate of only $10 per day, has resulted in a bait-and-switch for
many New Yorkers - including the Assemblyman himself.
"When I travel abroad, I'm like everyone else - I want the best possible
deals," said Hikind. "Naturally, when I heard about Verizon's
TravelPass, I was interested. Who doesn't want to save money and have
the convenience of using their own phone?"
