Subject: There's a secret way to get unlimited Verizon hotspot data
for $50 a month
By Chris Mills
These days, cell carriers are pretty clear that they don't want you
using mobile internet as an alternative to hardline broadband. With
the exception of Verizon's weird smart hub router monstrosity, there's
nothing that provides a useful amount of mobile data for a good price.
Or at least there isn't if you're not a member of the Family Motor
Coach Association. The FMCA has negotiated a special deal with Verizon
for RC owners that gives you a Novatel MiFi 7730L wireless hotspot for
free, and lets you have unlimited wireless internet (with a soft
deprioritization threshold) for $50 a month.

Subject: Marissa Mayer resigns as Verizon closes 4.5B deal for Yahoo
By Ingrid Lunden
It's now official. After Yahoo shareholder approval last week,
Verizon today announced that it has finally closed its acquisition of
Yahoo, which it plans to combine with its AOL assets into a subsidiary
called Oath, covering some 50 media brands (including TechCrunch) and
1 billion people globally. It will be led by Tim Armstrong, who was
the CEO of AOL before this.
As expected, Marissa Mayer, who had been the CEO of Yahoo and recently
received a $23 million 'golden parachute' for her work there, has
resigned.

Subject: Verizon Just Started Selling an LTE-Only LG Flip Phone
By Kellex
It's not often that we talk about a basic flip phone around
these parts. With smartphones available at almost any price point, it
seems sort of silly to even consider a dumb or basic phone at this
point. And today, that won't change as we talk about the newly
released LG Exalt LTE that is now available at Verizon.
The LG Exalt LTE is important because - as far as we can tell - this
is Verizon's first LTE-only phone. When I say "LTE-only," I'm talking
about the fact that this phone only connects to Verizon's LTE network,
not their 3G CDMA network. If anything, it's the company's first 4G
LTE dumb phone. That's kind of a big deal.
