Subject: WA: More lights are back on in the Salem area, but outages
will linger in north Marion County
Portland General Electric expects 90% of its customers to have power
restored by Friday with a few hard-hit areas, including Woodburn,
remaining in the dark. Salem Electric has restored power to its
customers. But schools, internet service and transportation are still
affected.

Life in Salem is steadily returning to normal after a winter storm
over the weekend covered the area in ice and snow, causing trees to
split and power lines to crash.
As of Thursday, Portland General Electric has restored power to
approximately 567,000 customers in Oregon with another 100,000
customers still without electricity, said Maria Pope, the company's
president and CEO, during a press call. According to PGE's website,
there are still 29,174 customers in Marion County and another 1003 in
Polk County without power.

Subject: Cooperatives: The Unsung Heroes of Broadband
Thank you very much for inviting me to be part of such an important
conversation. It is truly an honor, as I believe deeply in the
importance of connectivity and the role that counties and cooperatives
play in that endeavor. I was asked to talk about a few things today:
the importance of broadband in a time of COVID; the important role
that cooperatives play in broadband deployment; and the different
technologies that deliver broadband to our homes, offices, and
schools. But I am also happy to answer any and all questions, so
please don't be shy to ask.
