Subject: CenturyLink fined another $2.85M for 2014 statewide 911
outage
BY JAMES RISLEY
A six-hour 911 outage that took place in April 2014 is costing
CenturyLink another $2,854,750. The Washington Utilities and
Transportation Commission levied today's fines, saying that
CenturyLink failed to reroute emergency calls during the outage.
CenturyLink is contracted to provide Washington's 911 services, along
with those in six other states covering about 11 million people.
During the outage, more than 5,600 calls failed to reach 911
operators and CenturyLink failed to alert the 911 call centers that
the outage was taking place, according to regulators.

Subject: Univsion accuses AT&T of 'Redlining' in cable fight
By Brian Stelter
Univision, the Spanish language broadcaster, says AT&T is discriminating
against Hispanics by failing to reach a new distribution deal for
Univision's stations.
AT&T denies that and says "this is about nothing more than Univision
demanding we pay an outrageous price increase."
Early Friday morning, Univision's contract with AT&T's U-verse
television service expired and Univision's stations disappeared in
U-verse's 6 million homes.

It appears they certainly deserved to be fined.
A quick look at digest archives shows lots of articles about
problems with CenturyLink.
Would anyone care to speculate on whether this fine will motivate the
company to improve its performance?
