Subject: Burgeoning battle over Huawei's 5G technology could prove
even more disruptive than Trump's trade war
China's ambassador to Australia, Cheng Jingye, let the cat out of the
bag this week when he lambasted Canberra over its decision to exclude
Huawei from the build-out of Australia's 5G network.

Subject: Cable and Satellite TV Committed Suicide Long Ago (And
Didn't Even Know It)
Sure, greed was a factor. But it goes much deeper than that.
by Harry J. Kazianis
Over at Cable Cutters News, Luke Bouma makes the argument that "greed"
was a big factor that led cable TV companies into the bind they are in
today. Cable TV could spend whatever it wanted on programming and
expensive content like ESPN - at very expensive rates - and just pass
on the cost and a lot more to the customer. When there is no
competition, you can do whatever you want.

In 1921 Columbia advertised a No. 6 dry cell specifically
for telephone service.

(This magazine has various articles and ads on telephony of
100 years ago.)
