Subject: CenturyLink says Level 3 acquisition boosts SMB network
reach, service set
by Sean Buckley
Now that it has Level 3's assets under its belt, CenturyLink has a
larger network footprint that will allow it to address not only large
global multinational enterprise but also its small to medium-sized
business customer base.
By acquiring Level 3, CenturyLink gained a larger on-net building
footprint, giving it more options to reach more businesses with its
own network facilities. The acquisition of Level 3 will increase its
reach by nearly 75 percent to approximately 75,000, including 10,000
buildings in EMEA and Latin America.

Cell phone sticker shock leads to call for action
By Jackie Callaway
Betty Falaska says her phone dropped countless calls. And it wasn't
just her, other family members on her plan say they ran into signal
problems in and around their Bradenton homes.
The retiree says AT&T sent a microcell to boost her signal but the
problems persisted. She showed us an email from the carrier last fall
and they offered to take back the phones.

Subject: FCC Says Releasing 'Jokes' It Wrote About Ajit Pai
Colluding With Verizon Would 'Harm' Agency
By Dell Cameron
At its own discretion, the Federal Communications Commission has
chosen to block the release of records related to a video produced
last year in which FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and a Verizon executive joke
about installing a "Verizon puppet" as head of the FCC.
In a letter to Gizmodo last week, the agency said it was withholding
the records from the public in order to prevent harm to the agency -
an excuse experts say is a flagrant attempt to skirt federal
transparency law.
