Believe it or not, it was one of the selectable "standard" tones
builtin to the Motorola RAZR V3.
And there is another very obnoxious tone (also builtin) that I use(d)
for incoming email. The reason for that is the ONLY email I would ever
permit to be sent to my phone would be that generated by a server
computer whereever I was employed/contracting to alert me to a power
failure or an overtemperature condition (HVAC failure) in the server
room requiring immediate response.

This begs the question: if broadcast TV networks are going to be (soon)
acquired by the cable and fiber monopolies, what was the point of all
the hassle and expense moving to digital broadcast TV?
Or is there something I'm not seeing and, say, Comcast's acquisitions
will still broadcast over-the-air?

So, what happens when HSPA 7.2 and LTE are rolled-out? Do those of
us with 3G GSM phones end up with non-functioning devices and are
forced to buy new phone instruments?
Unless I'm going blind, I don't see new cellular phone instruments
with the features and no junk that are equivalent to my 5-year-old
Motorola RAZR V3. I don't play games on the phone and I don't text.
Are those of us with similar "basic" but high-quality requirements
(no $30 phones in this household) requirements going to be left out
in the cold with our SIM cards rolling in the dust along with the
tumbleweeds?
And, note, I'm not a Luddite. :-)

I'm using the Morse code ring tones from http://www.planetofnoise.com/midi/morse2mid.php
. I use the initials of the caller as the ringtone so I can tell right
away who's calling.

Considered and done - Which is why this little batch of messages is
showing up in your mailboxes and Usenet browsers right now.
The Spam Bucket is cleaned out so Bill doesn't have to deal with it
when he gets back, and if the submitted posts are on-topic I'll pass
them through. You know what's acceptable.
There isn't anything waiting in the Obfuscate or Anonymous queue,
and I strongly suggest it stay that way. I'm winging it, so please
mung it before you send it. And now I get to go through the Digest
Generation process - cross your fingers.
Of course I opened the editor in mutt to append a real Moderator's
Note online (three times) but for the life of me I can't figure out
how to save the edited message and get back to the command line to
follow the rest of the routine (bounce to the outgoing aliases). And
John uses alpine not mutt - Help!
I'm a MS-DOS and WinTel person... So I'll compose this in Forte
Agent like normal, and send it to myself to authorize.
If it works, it wasn't a dumb idea. :-)
Should you know the magic keystroke in mutt, I'm all ears.
