Subject: Think twice about bringing your mobile to Nepal
Government wavers on plans to make foreign phones not work unless users
register and pay tax
By Ramesh Kumar
Nepalis have to wait months to get passports to go abroad for study or
work, and when they return their mobile phones will likely not function.
It seems the Nepal government is making it as difficult as possible for
its citizens just to benefit some businesses.
From 1 January, the Nepal Telecommunications Authority was planning to
implement its Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) that requires
passengers landing in Nepal to register their phones, and pay taxes on
their second mobiles.

Subject: DirecTV May Yet Cost AT&T Another Dividend Cut
By Max Greve
After days of unofficial leaks and months of rampant speculation, it is
now confirmed that the NFL Sunday Ticket package will be leaving DIRECTV
and going to Google's (GOOG) (GOOGL) YouTube TV. While the implications
for Google certainly could be substantial, it seems to be far more
substantial for the ones losing it: AT&T (NYSE:T) and its new
satellite-TV partner.

Subject: I Have 5G on My Phone at Home, So Why Can't I Get 5G Home
Internet?
You may get those glorious bars to show up on your mobile device, but
the 5G home internet rollout is still a work in progress.
By Trey Paul
It's been a few years since 5G started rolling out, but I must confess,
as we enter 2023, sometimes it still baffles me. One of the questions
I'm often asked is, "My provider says I can't get its 5G home internet
service -- even though when I'm at home, I can get 5G on my phone. Why
not?"
I ran up against this myself when I switched carriers in 2022. I went
from AT&T to T-Mobile and was immediately impressed with the 5G
performance on my phone. But even though I got T-Mobile 5G cell service
at home, my address wasn't eligible for its Home Internet service. My
immediate reaction: Whaaaat?

Subject: Help Wanted: Self-described GOAT law firm seeks associate
with kindergarten-acquired skills, dial-up internet
By Debra Cassens Weiss
A California law firm is looking for a real estate litigation associate
fluent in Latin and the flexibility to work “extremely long hours” to
handle “all work that the managing partner is simply too important to
handle.”
It’s an impressive law firm, according to the humorous LinkedIn ad.
“Talkov Law has been consistently ranked as the greatest law firm of all
time since its inception in 2020,” according to the job description.
“All of our attorneys are retired justices from the U.S. Supreme Court
and our law clerks can recite the Constitution by memory. We are looking
to add a stellar attorney of equal caliber.”
