Subject: CWA: Tell National Audubon Society Leadership to Reinstate
Workers' Healthcare
National Audubon Society workers formed a union last year to ensure
their essential work to protect birds and their ecosystems happens in a
fair and equitable workplace. One year later, Audubon leadership
continues to hold an aggressive anti-union stance by stalling contract
negotiations, refusing to bargain in good faith and repeatedly insulting
and undermining their own workforce, leading to high staff turnover and
worker dissatisfaction.
On top of this, Audubon leadership just unilaterally cut workers’
healthcare benefits – pushing costs onto the organization’s most
vulnerable staff – while rejecting more equitable proposals produced by
the union. In response, Audubon workers filed an unfair labor practice
charge (ULP) with the National Labor Relations Board, alleging Audubon
leadership broke federal law.

Subject: SpaceX seeks FCC approval for sat-to-phone birds
SpaceX is seeking to clear regulatory hurdles with the US Federal
Communications Commission (FCC) for its satellite-to-phone service with
T-Mobile US ahead of an expected launch in 2023.
On 6 December SpaceX filed an application with the FCC to orbit more
than 2,016 second-generation, low-earth birds for a direct-to-cellular
system that would feature advanced phased array beam-forming and digital
processing technologies onboard.
