Subject: California sues Delta for failing to put privacy policy on mobile app Message-ID: <p0624080fcce71b2ff496@[10.0.1.5]> California sues Delta for failing to put privacy policy on mobile app Attorney general is seeking to enforce state's Online Privacy Protection Act. by Timothy B. Lee Ars Technica Dec 6 2012 Delta Airlines is the first target of California regulators, who are enforcing a state law requiring mobile app developers to disclose information about their privacy policies. California attorney general Kamala Harris has sued the airline in San Francisco Superior Courts, saying it is not in compliance with the Online Privacy Protection Act. That legislation, enacted by the California legislature in 2003, requires app developers to conspicuously display a privacy policy describing what personally identifiable information is collected by the app and how that information will be used. Delta offers the "Fly Delta" app, which allows users to check in to their flights, rebook flights, pay for checked baggage, and perform a variety of other tasks. But what it doesn't do, according to the attorney general's office, is give the user easy access to the airline's privacy policy. Delta does have a privacy policy on its website. But Harris says that policy does not mention the "Fly Delta" app and is not "reasonably accessible" to users of the app. ... http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/12/california-sues-delta-for-failing-to-put-privacy-policy-on-mobile-app/

Subject: Best simple screening system? Message-ID: <-umdndXsVLIxjVzNnZ2dnUVZ_h6dnZ2d@posted.palinacquisition> Robot Rachel and her evil robot sister, Ann, are hitting me up 2-4 times a day now for interest rate reductions on my credit cards -- and making me crazy. This device looks promising: http://www.privacycorps.com/products/?id=4 ("Call Screener") It appears to do just what's needed, including answering with a SIT group. Seems like a cheap solution; curious what the pros here suggest, and whether others have had experience with this device. Thanks in advance, Frank -- .

That's the input that a number of former monopoly, European telecoms sent to the member states of the United Nation's International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Why? Because, for the first time since 1988, the ITU will be negotiating new international telecom regulations from December 3 to 14 in Dubai. And that meeting will mark the first opportunity for the ITU to bring Internet issues under its umbrella. ... http://arstechnica.com/business/2012/12/dear-itu-please-dont-bill-internet-use-like-phone-calls/
