Subject: Amazon Fired Employee for Leaking Customer Emails
Per your request:

***** Moderator's Note *****
Thank you, that is very helpful. I'll be on guard against pitches to
buy from Amazon's competitors.
[Incipient-Paranoia-Department]
But of course, there is always the chance that more than my email
address was stolen, so I'll have to change the password as well, both
at Amazon and at gmail. Since my purchase history and/or emails might
be used to attempt identity theft, I'll have to tighten up security in
general.

Subject: How is this guy getting through from a blocked number?
Hey, Digesters,
I've got a little bit of a stumper on my hand. Someone with whom I am
on the very worst of terms has taken it upon himself to tele-stalk me.
Sometimes he calls, sometimes he texts. I block the number, but the
calls and texts just keep right on coming, still showing as coming
from the number that shows as blocked. I unblock and re-block, but
still he gets right through.
How is he doing this, and how do I make my block stick?
I have an Apple iPhone 6S+ running iOS 14.0.1 on the Sprint network. I
have added all the various numbers from which he has called to a
contact that is supposed to be blocked, and yet it doesn't even slow
him down. He has, by his own admission, multiple mental health
diagnoses and has even been declared incompetent to manage his own ATM
card, so I would really like to get him out of my life.

Subject: State AGs Weigh In Against Facebook In Robotexting Battle
Advocacy groups, Democratic lawmakers and attorneys general from 36
states and the District of Columbia are urging the Supreme Court to
rule against Facebook in a battle over unwanted text messages.
The fight stems from allegations that Facebook violated a federal
robotexting law by sending text messages about a possible security
breach to Montana resident Noah Duguid, who had apparently been
assigned a recycled phone number. Duguid says the messages repeatedly
notified him his account had been accessed, even though he didn't have
an account with the service.
Duguid claimed in a 2015 class-action complaint that the messages
violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which prohibits
companies from using autodialers to send text messages without
recipients' consent.
The legal battle now at the Supreme Court centers on the Telephone
Consumer Protection Act's definition of "autodialer."

Subject: ThousandEyes provides postmortem look at CenturyLink's
outage
by Mike Robuck | Sep 2, 2020
Monitoring vendor ThousandEyes provided a detailed postmortem for
CenturyLink's widespread outage Sunday morning, which included a few
lessons learned.
As previously reported the outage, which started just after 6 a.m. ET,
was due to an "offending Flowspec announcement" that originated in
CenturyLink's CA3 data center in Mississauga, a city in Ontario,
Canada.
