Kung and Christen B'Anca Glenn The next-generation of wireless technologies – known as 5G – is expected to revolutionize business and consumer connectivity, offering network speeds that are up to 100 times faster than 4G LTE, reducing latency to nearly zero, and allowing networks to handle 100 times the number of connected devices, enabling the “Internet of Things.” Leading policymakers – federal regulators and legislators – are making it a top priority to ensure that the wireless industry has the tools it needs to maintain U.S. leadership in commercial 5G deployments. This blog provides monthly updates on FCC actions and Congressional efforts to win the race to 5G. https://www.mondaq.com/article/news/1258596?q=1803232&n=631&tp=5&tlk=10&lk=34

I'm sometimes accused of being overly critical of the claims made by vendors of various “new” and “improved” technologies. However, this was from a law firm, and I'm surprised that those who work in such a place would pass along such claims.

“Reducing latency to nearly zero” - and how is that miracle accomplished? Is there a new law which modifies the old laws of physics?

Mon and Paul Singer In January, we reported that the Texas Attorney General had filed a lawsuit against Google alleging that the company engaged iHeartMedia DJs to provide endorsements for its Pixel 4 phone, even though they had never used it. This week, the FTC and several state attorneys general announced settlements with Google and iHeartMedia over the same conduct. The complaints provide more insights into what may have happened behind the scenes. According to the FTC and states, Google hired iHeartMedia and other radio networks in 2019 to have DJs read ads for the Pixel 4 phone. Google provided scripts that included endorsements written in the first-person. For example: “It's my favorite phone camera out there, especially in low light, thanks to Night Sight Mode;” “I've been taking studio-like photos of everything;” and “It's also great at helping me get stuff done, thanks to the new voice activated Google Assistant that can handle multiple tasks at once.” https://www.mondaq.com/article/news/1256592?q=1803232&n=628&tp=14&tlk=8&lk=56

Stefani and Craig A. Gilley On November 17, 2022, the FCC issued new broadband labeling rules that require Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to publish broadband “nutrition labels” in a standardized format informing customers of the pricing, performance, fees, data allowances and other details of each of their currently available broadband offerings offered to mass market residential and small business customers. The rules, which apply to both fixed and mobile broadband services, must be disclosed to customers at the point of sale. https://www.mondaq.com/article/news/1256994?q=1803232&n=628&tp=14&tlk=7&lk=55 -- (Pleaes remove QRM to reply to poster)
