Well, every time I try to bring up this story I get a 404 message.
Would have liked to read it.
Perhaps someone can give me some information.
I am looking to replace my cellular flip phone with a WiFi only VOIP
phone that is compatible with Callcentric.
I need it to be as compact and as easy to use as my Kyocera. It must
be rechargeable with a generic [not a proprietary] USB [four port 50
watt] charger.
I will carry it with me and use it at public WiFi points. Some of
those WiFi points are encrypted security so it must be able to handle
that.
So far, I haven't found anything like that that can be used with VOIP
services like Callcentric.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate a direct email.
Regards,
Fred

I have a 35 KSR TTY that was only used 3 months before the CRT
terminal came out.

Ron, please tell us what speed the unit is geared for, and if it has a
current-loop interface, an RS-232, or a modem.

Subject: Robocall fraud now dangerous to health
An emergency boil water before drinking warning was issued. Affected
municipalities put sent out a telephone alert to all residents to let
them know.
And the residents ignored it.
The reason was that people have been so flooded with fraud robocalls
that many folks only answer calls from numbers they already know and
ignore all others. Since many people don't have their municipality on
their list, they ignored the calls.

Subject: Bipartisan TRACED Act Seeks to Reduce Robocalls
By Seth Williams, CommLawBlog, November 29, 2018
Before Thanksgiving, a bipartisan group of Senators introduced legislation
aimed at decreasing the number of unwanted robocalls.
The "TRACED" Act would expand FCC authority under the Telephone Consumer
Protection Act ("TCPA"), empower the FCC to mandate call authentication rules
for voice service providers to cut down on caller ID spoofing, and create an
interagency working group to encourage other law enforcement and government
agencies to do more to fight illegal robocalls.
