Subject: I have a fax machine, and the doctor does not
I need to fax a form to the office of the sugeon who operated on my
wrist. One of the other members of my Friends meeting has a
combined-function printer that he told me he can hook up quickly to send
a fax.
However, I've been getting advice from a physician who's also in my
meeting. He has a POTS phone line, but no FAX machine.
This is quit a surprise to me: I though doctors just had to have FAX
machines. None of them give out email addresses, and I've never seen a
doctor's office that would agree to accept a "signed" email in place of
a FAX.
I get the feeling that I've missed some sort of change, either in the
HIPAA rules, or in some other law. Have medical practices started
accepting SSL signed emails?
