In Sun Valley, Calif., a local resident in June claimed that Assurance Wireless sent an agent to their mother's door -- and pushed her to sign up for mobile internet funded by the federal government even though she didn't need it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2022/10/25/broadband-subsidies-coronavirus-aid/

By Jonathan H. Adler The congressional committee investigating the events of January 6 may have had its last public hearing, but it continues to seek information about efforts to challenge or obstruct the 2020 electoral vote count. Yesterday, a divided panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit denied Kelli Ward's attempt to quash a committee subpoena for her cell phone records, Politico reports. Ward currently Chairs the Arizona Republican Party and previously ran for U.S. Senate. https://reason.com/volokh/2022/10/23/ninth-circuit-refuses-to-quash-jan-6-committee-subpoena-for-kelli-wards-cell-phone-records/

The potential untapped market -- which hinges on, but extends beyond, sending a text via space -- is spurring a tale of two strategies: Those putting specialized antennae in phones, versus those putting high-powered antennae on the satellites themselves. For some companies, it means billions spent on what could end up being a losing approach. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/23/space-race-to-connect-satellites-to-phones-with-apple-spacex-att.html -- (Please remove QRM to reply directly to Bill Horne)
