The project, which was announced in 2021, is being fueled by $3.8 billion in federal and state funds. The state's network design calls for a total of 10,000 miles of fiber. The largest portion of the project will run through San Bernadino County, which will be home to 850 miles of fiber. Kern County (544 miles), Riverside County (535 miles) and Los Angeles County (525 miles) will also account for substantial portions of the system. https://www.fiercetelecom.com/telecom/california-kicks-construction-38b-middle-mile-fiber-network

By Brett Wilkins Citing "mass layoffs and recent pay deductions" and inspiration from unionizing workers at Starbucks and Amazon, hundreds of workers at telecommunications giant T-Mobile on Wednesday announced that they are forming an independent union, the T-Force Social Care Alliance. https://tinyurl.com/nhj6zrsn

These licenses covered mid-band frequencies in the range of 3.7GHz-3.98GHz giving the two carriers the ability to fight back against T-Mobile. The latter picked up 2.5GHz mid-band spectrum when it purchased Sprint for $26 billion and it was helping T-Mobile become arguably the early 5G leader in the U.S. While mid-band signals don't travel as far as low-band signals do, they travel farther than mmWave. And while mid-band 5G signals aren't as fast as mmW, they are 10 times faster than low-band 5G. So while the odds of you finding a mmWave 5G signal running at 1Gbps is prohibitive, you are much more likely to come across a mid-band signal delivering data at 400Mbps. https://www.phonearena.com/news/airlines-want-changes-to-5g-c-band_id143051
