Subject: Why does centurylink suck so bad!?!?
I recently opened a small business and rent a small retail space. When
time came to set up internet my only option was CL. (At first I tried
to use Comcast, but their technician said I would have to hire an
electrician to run wire thru my walls and ceilings, but my building
was already set up for CL) so I went with CL, and my internet goes out
CONSTANTLY! I've paid and had this service for less than 2 months and
have maybe had a solid internet connection for 2 days.

Suicide is a growing problem. On some railroad and transit lines, it
is very serious, so bad that carriers have placed hotline call boxes
on station platforms in an effort to prevent tragedy.
However, in my opinion, the 988 line is a bad idea for the following
reasons. First, it is not something easily remembered and most people
won't remember, especially in a crisis situation when emotions are
distraught. In contrast, '911' was chosen to be easily remembered and
it is something people use much more often. Second, I think resources
should be devoted to improved 911 responsiveness and police training.
If there's a potential suicide, 911 should be the aid line of choice,
with trained people responding. (I thought historically cops were
trained to help such people). Third, in the U.S. mental health
support is pretty crappy and ought to be improved.
Historical note: Sidney Poitier did a movie where he played a suicide
line counselor. He received a call and they tried to trace it back to
the source. Lots of images of different types of telephone exchanges.
The film appears on TCM on occasion.
