Subject: Is Dysfunction Built Into Your IT Operating Model?
by Russ Aebig
"IT is too slow."
"IT costs too much for what they are giving me."
"IT seems to be missing the mark at our company."
"What is it that IT does here?"
Do any of these resonate with you - maybe all of them? If so, you are
not alone. Most IT organizations have some flavor of this in their
reputation. Usually, IT organizations are inherited, tweaked,
personality-driven, and suffered through. Levels of dysfunction are
unknowingly baked into operations and accepted as "that's how we do
things around here."

A couple of decades ago, one of the well-known corporate gurus
wrote that "Computers arrived in American business just in time
to speed up the pace at which we make the same old mistakes."
If any of Mr. Aebig's quotes seem familiar to you, then I have some
advice for you: If you're part of the "IT" organization and it's
mission, goals, resources, and responsibilities aren't crystal clear
to everyone in the firm, get out of there quick.
If you're willing to tilt at some windmills, I'll be happy to
provide advice on how to do so without needing a horse and armor.

Harrington , Robert McDowell and Henry Wendel The Federal Communications Commission released a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) seeking comment on regulations it could adopt to reduce spam and scam text messages. The FCC noted that the number of illegal, unwanted texts has grown significantly over the last few years. As a result, consumers have lost millions of dollars and jeopardized their privacy. The FCC seeks comment on the following topics, which it believes could help eliminate the problem: ... https://tinyurl.com/ydmu7mw7 Message-ID: <20221006155452.GA485719@telecomdigest.us> Date: Thu, 6 Oct 2022 15:54:52 +0000 From: Bill Horne <malQRMassimilation@gmail.com> Subject: Overview Of The FCC's Broadband Data Collection Bulk Fabric Challenge Process By Sean A. Stokes , Kathleen Slattery Thompson and Liam Fulling The Federal Communications Commission completed its first Broadband Data Collection ("BDC") on September 1, 2022.1 The Commission is now accepting and evaluating bulk challenges to the FCC's Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric ("Fabric"), which serves as the foundation for the FCC's upcoming broadband data map. To ensure the most accurate broadband map possible, service providers, state and local govern- ments, and other entities are strongly encouraged to submit data in the BDC system pointing out any mistakes found in the Fabric. https://tinyurl.com/575x5z69 Message-ID: <2022100518254558770-nobody@example.com> Date: 5 Oct 2022 18:25:45 -0700 From: "Jay Hennigan" <nobody@example.com> Subject: Re: T-Mobile waiving overcharge fees On 2022-09-29 22:47:30 +0000, Bill Horne said: > By: Keyshawn Frazier > > T-Mobile has announced that customers in certain counties of Florida > and Georgia who are impacted by Hurricane Ian and are not already on > unlimited plans will not pay overage charges. How very generous of them to waive overage charges, but just in those areas with no to very limited service. "It's all-you-can-eat, but the buffet is destroyed."
