Subject: Lumina Networks folds as operators shy away from open
source
By Harry Baldock
Initially backed by the likes of Verizon and AT&T, a decline in
revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic has led to an untimely demise.
When considering the telecoms industry through the lens of the
coronavirus pandemic, many have commented on the industry's
resilience. With networks holding up well under the pressure of work
from home, you could be forgiven for thinking that the industry would
perform well under the strain of the pandemic.

Subject: Open source vendor Lumina Networks pulls the plug
by Mike Robuck
After three years, open source vendor Lumina Networks is shutting down
operations over the coming month.
In a Tuesday afternoon interview with FierceTelecom, Lumina Networks
CEO Andrew Coward said the company's fortunes were hit by the double
whammy of Covid-19 related issues along with the trials of being an
open source vendor. Coward said that venture capitalists, along with
telcos, don't typically invest in open source companies.
