Subject: [telecom] T-Mobile data breach settlement could be
second largest in US history
In another breach settlement, global telecom company T-Mobile has
agreed to pay $350 million to settle a lawsuit resulting from a 2021
cyberattack that potentially exposed the data of nearly 80 million
customers. CNET notes that If approved, the settlement will be the
second largest of its kind in the US, beaten only by Equifax=E2=80=99s 2019
breach settlement for $700 million. The T-Mobile breach was the result
of a cyberattack, although it=E2=80=99s unclear exactly how many individuals
were compromised.

Ticket: # 733614 - Local ISP Problems
Date: 1/1/2016 1:57:04 PM
City/State/Zip: Murphysboro, Illinois 62966
Company Complaining About: Zitomedia
___________________________________________________________________________
Description
Local ISP "Zitomedia" issued data caps for people who have the
internet service as of 1/1/15 last year. They did this without telling
us as customers that have the internet service and without the general
consent of anybody in our family who uses the lowest internet speed in
which "Zitomedia" provides.

It seems to me to be apparent that the new owner of the local Cable
TV/Internet/VoIP provider here in Burnsville, North Carolina, has a
corporate culture of doing things behind the scenes. There have been
other complaints, and they're easy to find.

Subject: [telecom] Four Reasons Why Telecoms Providers Must Improve
Cybersecurity Measures
by Edwin Bentley
The telecoms industry is not immune to cyber security breaches. It is
more susceptible than ever. A dependence on telecommunications
products and services due to remote working during the pandemic, and
more has produced an increasingly connected world that significantly
relies on these telco service providers. And where there is
dependence, there are threats to disrupt it.
In August 2021, a security breach hit T-Mobile and impacted more than
40 million current, former, and prospective customers. A recently
discovered cyber incident at a critical supplier to Vodafone also had
"scope to impact the entire telecoms industry."
