This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. - Franklin D. Roosevelt |

Subject: Emergency alert hijacks TVs of AT&T customers Message-ID: <m36eps$52h$1@dont-email.me> ATLANTA, Ga. -- AT&T U-verse customers in several states woke up Friday morning to find a federal emergency alert on TV. The problem is, there was no emergency and the alert somehow hijacked their TV's, refusing to allow them to change the channel. Alan Sams, who has his phone and internet service bundled through AT&T says he couldn't use the internet or his phone either. http://www.11alive.com/story/news/local/2014/10/24/att-uverse-emergency-alert-white-house-fema/17855431/ -or- http://goo.gl/36F2Kl -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly) |

Subject: Somebody's Already Using Verizon's ID to Track Users Message-ID: <m36ebe$3q5$1@dont-email.me> Twitter is using a newly discovered hidden code that the telecom carriers are adding to every page you visit - and it's very hard to opt out. Twitter's mobile advertising arm enables its clients to use a hidden, undeletable tracking number created by Verizon to track user behavior on smartphones and tablets. Wired and Forbes reported earlier this week that the two largest cellphone carriers in the United States, Verizon and AT&T, are adding the tracking number to their subscribers' Internet activity, even when users opt out. http://www.propublica.org/article/somebodys-already-using-verizons-id-to-track-users -or- http://goo.gl/6hEKfw -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly) |
