By Eli Blumenthal AT&T is in the process of rolling out a new 5G midband network, but you will in fact need a higher-end flagship device to use it. On Thursday the nation's third-largest carrier walked back its pledge to upgrade older devices to support its newer 3.45GHz midband 5G. Last month, AT&T had told CNET that it would be upgrading a host of its recent 5G devices -- including 2020's iPhone 12 series and 2021's Samsung Galaxy S21, Google Pixel 6 and iPhone 13 lines -- to support the 3.45GHz midband spectrum. The carrier spent over $9 billion acquiring the spectrum, which it plans to deploy alongside its C-band airwaves for a more robust nationwide 5G network that can better compete with T-Mobile's and Verizon's respective offerings. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/no-at-t-wont-let-older-phones-tap-into-its-full-5g-network-after-all/

The legislation faced fierce opposition by various groups including the California Chamber of Commerce, California Retailers Association, California Bankers Association, CTIA-California Wireless Association, and others. However, the legislation was able to move forward thanks to the activism of CWA members, who mobilized to build support for the legislation, and the CWA District 9 Legislative and Political team, who continuously engaged in prolonged and intense negotiations with the Governor's office, state representatives, numerous organizations, employers, and state entities. https://cwa-union.org/news/worker-power-update-46

Last month, as part of CWA's nationwide campaign to expose Frontier Communications' dangerous use of subcontractors, members from CWA Locals 9588 and 9586 participated in the first ever "Stop Frontier Subcontracting" training held at the CWA District 9 office in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. https://cwa-union.org/news/bargaining-update-216 -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

If they can't solve the customer's issue, they try to sell him/her a solution that they don't really need. You were wise not to buy into it. If you can'r dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with ................ ! I am sure you've heard that one before. I often ask questions that I already know the answer to so I can find out if they are going to lie to me. Usually, they are. I have [so many times] been lied to by a salesman, CSR, or tech support. I lost count of how many times many years ago. Those high tech representatives don't realize they are talking to someone with my level of technical expertise. I am not a 'guru', but I know enough to know when I am being lied to or when the person I am talking to does not know what they are talking about. Yes, do call on your technical cohorts for advice on the matter. Hopefully, they will be able to help you! Rotsa ruck! Fred
